FABIO MIYAJIMA
FIOCRUZ CEARA EUSEBIO / CEPh.D in Epidemiology & Health Sciences (Molecular Genetics) - University of Manchester
I have a PhD in Genomics & Molecular Epidemiology from the University of Manchester (UK) with a focus on cohort studies of chronic conditions (cognitive decline), followed by a Postdoc in Personalised Health from the University of Liverpool working on the complex interplay of host and infectious diseases (pathogen genomics, immune response, microbiome, genome tracking), which set the way I have looked at research questions and approached scientific challenges.
My main interests are on Translational Research applied to Human Health (both chronic & infectious diseases), comprising the fields of OMICS, Diagnostic/Prognostic and Monitoring Biomarkers for the clinical care, as well as molecular epidemiology analysis.
During the pandemic I have dedicated efforts on the genomic & immunological surveillance for tracking and tackling COVID-19 as part of the Fiocruz COVID-19 Genomic Surveillance Network, and lately we have been actively working on an innovative surveillance agenda to monitor future emerging threats.
