Dr. Filipe Dantas-Torres is a veterinarian and a public health researcher at Oswaldo Cruz Research Institute in Recife, Brazil. He is a Veterinary Specialist in Parasitology and holds a Master degree in Public Health, a PhD in Public Health, and a PhD in Animal Health and Zoonoses. He is the Chair of the Tropical Council for Companion Animal Parasites (TroCCAP) and Editor-in-Chief of Parasites and Vectors. He is also in the Executive Committee the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP). His main research interests include leishmaniasis, dirofilariosis and other vector-borne diseases
