I am a Researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) in Rio de Janeiro-RJ, Brazil, with 160 published papers and H index of 38. I have experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Epidemiology and Bioinformatics of Retroviruses (HIV and HTLV 1 and 2), Arboviruses (Chikungunya, Zika, Dengue, Yellow Fever and West Nile viruses) and COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), working mainly on the following topics: genomic surveillance, molecular epidemiology and evolution of viruses, clinical-epidemiological correlations in human virus diseases, development of bioinformatics tools for virus genomic and metagenomics analyses as well as genotyping tools. I also act as an advisor/professor of the postgraduate course in Tropical Medicine of Oswaldo Cruz Institute from FIOCRUZ Rio de Janeiro, postgraduate course in Sanitary Surveillance of National Institute of Quality Control  (INCQS) from FIOCRUZ Rio de Janeiro,  postgraduate course of Genetics from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), postgraduate course of Bioinformatics from Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG); postgraduate course of Genetics from Federal University of Minas Gerais, and also of the postgraduate course of Collective Health from the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS). Since 2004, every year, I have been a professor of virus evolution bioinformatics at the International Bioinformatics Workshop on Virus Evolution and Molecular Epidemiology (VEME), and from 2017, I am a member of the RENEZIKA networks of the Brazilian Ministry of Health and RELDA and VIGENDA of the Pan American Health Organization/WHO.
