AMADOR GOODRIDGE
Amador Goodridge, PhD
He has a degree in Medical Technology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Panama. He also holds a Master of Science with a Specialization in Biotechnology from the Universidad Santa María la Antigua, and a Ph.D. in Infectious Diseases and Immunity from the University of California at Berkeley, United States. He recently obtained a Diploma in Project Management from Florida State University at the City of Knowledge.
He has developed his professional career within the Ministry of Health, the Social Security Fund, the Smithsonian Institute for Tropical Research, and the INDICASAT-AIP. For more than 20 years he has developed scientific research on human and animal tuberculosis, nosocomial infections, multidrug resistance, reproductive health, nutrition and water quality. He is a Distinguished Researcher member of the National System of Researchers-SNI of SENACYT; the Scientific Technical Committee of the International Center for Sustainable Development-CIDES; the Advisory Committee for Admission to the City of Knowledge; the CienciaEnPanama Movement; the Panamanian Association for the Advancement of Science; of the Future Scientist Organization and the Technical-Scientific Commission for the Bicentennial Pact of Panama.
He was President of the Coordinating Mechanism of Panama for the Fight against Tuberculosis, HIV and Malaria; and is currently President of the Panamanian Antituberculosis Organization (https://www.opatuberculosis.org/ ); Special Professor at the University of Panama; scientific article writing instructor; expert evaluator for the National Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation-SENACYT and senior scientist at INDICASAT-AIP (https://indicasat.org.pa/) at the City of Knowledge (https://ciudaddelsaber.org/).
Amador has experience working in hospitals, clinics and health centers within Panama. In addition, he worked in conjunction with international and local research institutes; and collaborated with governmental and non-governmental organizations in building scientific capacity for R&D. Additionally, he has taught courses on Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Diagnostics and Scientific Writing at public and private universities nationwide. His research focuses on tuberculosis biomarkers, bacterial genetics, multidrug resistance, perinatal and sexually transmitted infections.
